Anyone want to play a round of golf with hockey legend Paul Henderson or B.C. Lions general manager Wally Buono? Tee off with professional athletes and fellow business professionals at the first annual Life of Significance Golf Classic on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Beach Grove Golf Club in support of Athletes in Action Pro Ministries and LeaderImpact, two strategic ministries of Power to Change (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ).

"We're excited to welcome Paul Henderson back to Vancouver for this golf fundraiser," noted Dave Klassen, director of AIA's pro ministry and chaplain for the B.C. Lions.

"Every Canadian over 40 can tell you where they were standing when Henderson got that winning goal in the 1972 Canada/Russia hockey series -at the height of the Cold War," said Klassen. "Many Canadians want to meet him in person as well as to introduce their kids to this hockey legend and Canadian hero. And, of course, Wally Buono has already won the hearts of B.C. football fans."

Henderson said he's looking forward to coming back to Vancouver to support AIA's Pro Ministry.

"As an athlete, I wish our teams back then had had a chaplain like Dave Klassen to hang out with us and just be there for us as well as to help us keep our lives in perspective," he said.

Buono has enjoyed success on the football field, both as a player and a coach. The CFL's all-time winningest coach, he split time between the Calgary Stampeders and the Lions, winning five Grey Cup titles. As a player with the Montreal Alouettes, Buono played in five championship games, winning the Grey Cup twice.

The golf tourney has a1 p.m. tee off and will feature on-course competitions.

Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit both Athletes in Action Pro Ministry and LeaderImpact.

Golfers are invited to register individually or as a team. Golf packages are $210 per person, while tickets for the evening banquet are $50.

Interested golfers and sponsors can call Dave Klassen at 604-807-9933 or Russ Swaim at 778-870-5530 for more information or register online at www.losgolfclassic.com.

In addition to the golf tournament, Henderson will be in Langley, Abbotsford and Vancouver on Wednesday, Oct. 2. For information and tickets, visit www.leaderimpactgroup.com.
