Kanakos seeks a return to council

Former councillor Jeannie Kanakos announced Wednesday she's looking to return to Delta council.

Former councillor Jeannie Kanakos announced Wednesday she's looking to return to Delta council.

Her candidacy has been endorsed by fellow independent Bruce McDonald, who's seeking re-election to council, and Laura Dixon, who is running for a second term on the Delta school board.

"I would be honoured to serve the Delta residents again and to contribute to making our good community better.

It is a bonus to run with Laura Dixon and Bruce McDonald, who I respect and who have done so much for Delta," said Kanakos.

Kanakos served a three-year term on council after being elected in 2005. She didn't seek reelection in 2008 in order to run for the Liberals against Delta North NDP MLA Guy Gentner in the 2009 provincial election.

"Jeannie brings an excellent track record as a Delta municipal councillor. She is known for being prepared and she gets things done," stated McDonald.

Kanakos said her platform focuses on the importance of sustainability in Delta.

"I look forward to Delta becoming a sustainable community and as your municipal councillor, I will consider the environmental, economic and social factors when making decisions for our community."
