Poppies lay row on row at Remembrance Day ceremony in Ladner.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 needs just a few more volunteers to help sell poppies this year.

Brian Reid, with the Ladner legion, said that so far, they've signed up about 200 volunteers to work two-hour shifts at five spots around Ladner in order to help out the annual fundraiser.

But another 50 or so folks are still needed to fill two-hour spots for the drive which runs from Oct. 25 to Nov. 10, the day before Remembrance Day.

The poppy fundraiser is the legion's largest of the year and the goal is meet last year's total of $60,000. The money goes to help veterans and their families, which also helps the community, he pointed out.

Some of the poppy boxes also have machines with tap functions so people can donate with their debit cards.
