Local CARP chapter helping seniors navigate pandemic

The Richmond/Delta CARP chapter’s current programs include pushing the government to offer the high dose flu vaccine to all B.C. seniors under MSP.
Active seniors
As the pandemic continues, the Richmond/Delta CARP chapter urges its members to get outside and walk, stretch and visit with other seniors (appropriately masked and distanced) to help overcome the loneliness that current provincial guidelines create.

The Richmond/Delta CARP chapter’s current programs include pushing the government to offer the high dose flu vaccine to all B.C. seniors under MSP.

Statistics show that B.C. spends more treating seniors in hospital with the flu than the cost of vaccinating seniors.

Our National body with over 320,000 members, advocates on issues for seniors with recent emphasis on improving the care seniors receive in long-term care.

Richmond/Delta currently has 1,365 members

In non-pandemic times we offer monthly meetings featuring speakers on topics of interest to seniors. During the pandemic these have gone online and offer seniors the opportunity for interaction as well as educational experiences.

We have joined with other B.C. chapters to offer regular Zoom sessions featuring Isobel Mackenzie and other informative speakers for our members and guests.

Our website at www.standupstraightbc.com offer seniors to get their annual high dose flu shots at a reduced price until the government takes over this responsibility.

As the pandemic continues, we urge our members to get outside and walk, stretch and visit with other seniors (appropriately masked and distanced) to help overcome the loneliness that current provincial guidelines create.
