Moonlight Gala sets record

The Delta Hospital Foundation's premier fundraising event set a record this year.

The Delta Hospital Foundation's premier fundraising event set a record this year.

Last Saturday's 14th annual Moonlight Gala, presented by MK Delta Lands Group, was the foundation's most successful to date, with a last-minute anonymous donation raising the evening's total to just over $300,000.

Held once again at the elegantly transformed Sacred Heart School and attended by over 200 guests, money raised at the gala will go toward the foundation's Cardiac Care Fund.

Beginning at 6 p.m., the doors were opened for guests to mix, mingle and enjoy a cocktail reception. Countless volunteers helped guests play Heads & Tails and Poppin' Prizes as well as bid in silent and live auctions, with the most popular item, a private party and Texas Hold'em tournament donated by the Orlitzky family, generating $15,000 for the hospital.

"This was my first event with the foundation and it was a fantastic evening for Delta Hospital. I am continuously humbled by the immense support our hospital receives and to see so many people out at the event supporting our community," said foundation executive director Veronica Carroll.

"MK Delta Lands Group has consistently shown their commitment to giving back to Delta and whose support has helped to make this year's gala such an amazing success."

The gala exceeded its goal of $250,000 to support the Cardiac Care Fund, a designated which supports patients undergoing cardiac-related testing, monitoring and treatment by funding state-of-the-art medical equipment.
