More than a quarter of Delta voters go to poll stations early

Almost a third of registered voters in the Delta ridings cast an advanced ballot

Voters in Delta South and Delta North have joined the rest of B.C. in the early parade to the provincial polls via advance voting, and actually exceeding the provincial average by one percent.

Six days of early voting, Oct. 10-13, and Oct. 15-16 were offered before the final vote, which takes place this Saturday to choose a new government in Victoria.

In Delta South, a total of 11,736 people cast their ballots during the six days of advance voting.

According to Elections BC, Delta South has a total of 40,015 registered voters, resulting in 29 percent voting in advance polls.

In Delta North, with 35,553 registered voters, a total of 10,513 people voted early, also about 29 percent.

People could also vote at their district electoral office during office hours.

The last day of advance voting was Oct. 16 and it was also the busiest with 2,946 people voting in Delta South, while 2,064 people voted in Delta North.

Elections BC says that more than a million people have voted across the province, working out to 28 percent of registered voters, and putting the province on track for a big turnout.
