Neilson Grove students create mural with Stream of Dreams

Neilson Grove Elementary got a new Stream of Dreams mural Monday.

The school was excited to work on the project with Stream of Dreams, a nonprofit organization that educates students and communities about local waterways, said Neilson Grove principal Bob Thompson.

Students learned about watershed conservation and got to paint a wooden fish for the mural.

Students also produced films, which are being put online, based on science fair projects and interviews with local stewardship groups.

Some of the fish in the mural will have QR codes that can be scanned with smart phones so people walking by can watch the student videos.

"It's really cool that these fish are kind of coming into the 21st century and being very technological. I'm really excited about it," said Stream of Dreams founder and executive director Louise Towell.
