Delta council this week approved a recommendation from the Heritage Advisory Commission to install a new interpretative sign at Fred Gingell Park in Tsawwassen.
A report to council notes the site was chosen as the view from the park provides a representation of the different landscapes of Delta, while the beach seen from the vantage point is the site of an ancient First Nation village.
Staff have worked with both the commission and Tsawwassen First Nation to develop the interpretive sign which resulted in a number of revisions.
The caption within the sign’s bottom banner reads: “Tsawwassen Members are united, proud and confident in our culture; are connected to and taking care of our lands and resources; and are healthy, self-reliant and prospering.”
