Nordel Way a happy hunting ground for Delta police traffic unit

Delta drivers have been behaving better lately with fewer of them driving drunk in the last month.

But they’ve also developed a bit of a lead foot, based on the results of some speed enforcement on Nordel Way in North Delta.

Delta police say they doled out 27 tickets for speeding in just a few hours on Friday.

As well, four drivers had their vehicles hauled away for excessive speeding, with one of them hitting 125 km-h in the 60 km-h zone.

“Slow down and arrive alive,” say Delta police on social media.

Police had more traffic work to do after a bright-red Corvette did donuts at 70th Avenue and 120th Street.

“The vehicle was impounded to prevent any further dangerous driving,” police said on Facebook.

However, when it comes to impaired driving, only 30 drivers were busted for impaired driving in September, the lowest monthly number so far this year.

By contrast, in August, 70 drivers were busted for impaired driving.

Police also noted that stopping your vehicle isn’t allowed outside Burnsview Secondary.

“Our team conducted an educational campaign to remind parents that stopping here is not allowed and may escalate to enforcement, to ensure only drop-offs and pick-ups occur, without parking,” police said on Facebook.
