The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Aug. 9, 1600 Cliveden Avenue: Complainant reported the theft of a catalytic converter. Part of the converter and Sawzall blade located and seized at the scene. Surveillance video available from a neighboring business.
*Aug. 10, 11600 Block of 74th Avenue: Complainant reported the theft of an Amazon package valued at $20 delivered to their front porch. Surveillance video footage recorded a male taking the package. The footage was disseminated by police for possible identification.
*Aug. 11, 11600 Block of 90th Avenue: Complainant reported thefts from their home on three occasions. Video surveillance shows a Caucasian female in her 30’s, with blonde hair, walking directly to the residence. Items stolen include three decorative lanterns, a blue bicycle, and a Canada Post package containing a pair of running shoes with a total value of $500. Police attended and obtained the video footage along with still images which will be disseminated for possible identification. Police recommended the complainant not to leave any items in the front of their residence in the future.
*Aug. 12, 7300 Block of 113 Street: Complainant reported their partner’s vehicle, parked on the street in front of the residence, had been broken into sometime overnight. There was no sign of forced entry, but the vehicle appeared to have been rummaged through. Surveillance video showed a male entering the vehicle and taking a $40 blanket from the trunk. Police advised complainant to park their vehicle in the driveway rather than on the street.
*Aug. 13, 11700 block of 80th Avenue: Complainant reported the theft of their mini dirt bike from the backyard. The complainant removed the bike from a shed they were cleaning and went inside the house. When they returned, the bike was missing. Bike valued at approximately $1,300 is red and grey in colour. No suspects or witnesses. Canvas of the neighborhood revealed possible video surveillance footage.
*Aug. 13, 8100 Block of 120th Street: Complainant reported their spouse’s locked bicycle stolen from the underground parking lot bike rack of a business sometime between 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. The bike lock had been cut and the cutting tools left behind. A witness indicated they had observed a Caucasian male in their 20’s, wearing a gray hoodie, possibly cutting off the lock. The bike valued at $850 is described as a 2019 Specialized Crossroads Sport, size L, with a graphite/black/blue colour scheme. Police conducted an extensive patrol of the area with negative results.
*Aug. 13, 8300 Block of Centre Street: Complainant reported they met a person through an online dating site and had been communicating for the past five months. They indicated they were a structural engineer overseas and was having issues with their online banking and asked the complainant to assist them by transferring funds to their clients. The complainant agreed and transferred $50,000 to the unidentified person before realizing they were a victim of fraud.
