One person is dead following a single-vehicle collision Wednesday morning.
Cpl. Melissa Jongema from B.C. Highway Patrol confirmed with the Optimist that the vehicle collided with a lamp post on the Highway 99 northbound on-ramp just south of Highway 17.
“The vehicle caught fire with the driver trapped inside and tragically, the driver has passed away,” said Jongema. “The cause of the collision is still under investigation.”
She said the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services team is on scene investigating as well as B.C. Highway Patrol. The on-ramp is closed while the investigators are on scene.
Jongema said there is no ETA on when the on-ramp will be re-open to motorists.
She said she could not release any information about the driver.
