Now that the turkey sweats have subsided, and another Thanksgiving has come and gone, Delta Police wants to thank those drivers who took special precaution on the roads this past weekend.
But it is not all good news on Delta streets.
DPD’s Operation Impact team was out over the weekend targeting drivers committing offences that have been contributing to road safety – speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and aggressive driving. Over the course of the weekend, the team issued a total of 165 violation tickets, including:
• seven excessive speed
• nine impaired driving
• six prohibited driving
In addition to these violation tickets, there were also eight collisions over the weekend, including one fatal and two hit and runs.
Delta Police will continue to educate and enforce drivers on the causes of collisions. Please do your part to help keep Delta roads safe.
