Delta Police were called to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 51st and 47A in Ladner around 12:50 p.m. Friday.
DPD say a pedestrian was apparently in the crosswalk, crossing 51st Street when they were struck by a driver. The pedestrian has received serious injuries, but at this point police do not believe those injuries are life threatening.
“The Delta Police Traffic Section has assumed conduct of the investigation,” said DPD spokesperson Cris Leykauf. “The intersection is currently closed for the police investigation, but is anticipated to be opened up later this afternoon.
“Police note that the driver involved in this incident is cooperating with police. At this point we cannot comment on the possible causes of the collision, but officers have ruled out driver impairment.”
