Police looking for urn stolen from North Delta home during Xmas Eve break in

Delta police are appealing for help in tracking down an urn that was stolen from a North Delta home on Christmas Eve.

Delta police are appealing for help in tracking down an urn that was stolen from a North Delta home on Christmas Eve.

Police were called to the residence in the 7800-block of 119th Street after a woman returned home to find her house had been broken into and discovered that the suspect(s) stole the urn containing the ashes of her late husband.

"Delta police believe that the person responsible for the theft of the urn may not have known that the box contained the ashes of a loved one," said Delta police spokesperson Const. Ciaran Feenan. "Therefore, the Delta police along with the family are appealing to the suspect to return the cherished item by turning it in to any community police office or community church."

The stolen urn is described as: a black square silk box (four inches by four inches in size) containing a puck-sized silver container with the engraving - Babe LRL - 30-11-33 - 28-10-10.

"At this point, if the suspect wants to have someone else drop the urn off, it would be without questions, as the most important this is to get the urn back to the family where it belongs," Feenan said.

The incident is still under investigation and police urge anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen urn to call Delta police at 604-946-4411 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
