A rainbow of inclusion and tolerance was proudly recognized with the raising of the Pride Flag at City Hall in Ladner on Thursday afternoon.
The Delta Pride Society was on hand alongside Mayor George Harvie, city manager Sean McGill, other Delta staff, as well as Delta police Chief Neil Dubord, other Delta officers, Delta fire Chief Paul Schofield and police and fire Chaplain Jim Short.
“I was honoured yesterday to be asked to attend the raising of the Pride Flag,” said Dubord. “I am grateful for the wonderful work in the community by Delta Pride.”
The Delta Pride Society, in a post on social media, offered their thanks for being a part of the flag raising ceremony.
“Thank you for demonstrating that Delta is a City that includes everyone,” said Delta Pride Society.
Later in the day, Ladner United Church put up their Pride Flag above the entranceway to the church.
“We continue to be committed to being a better ally for the LGBTQ+ community of Delta,” wrote Ladner United Church on their Facebook page. “No matter race, sexual orientation, or gender, all are loved by God!”
