Sunflowers are the national flower of Ukraine and have emerged as a symbol of solidarity and one of resistance of its people since Russia’s invasion. Now a popular Ladner-based seed company is doing its part to help with the tragedy that is unfolding.
For the entire month of March, West Coast Seeds will donate 100 percent sales of their variety of sunflower seed packets to the Canadian Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.
The “Sunflowers of Support” initative is for online sales only and can be purchased here.

The campaign is similar to when West Coast Seeds teamed up with Dr. Bonnie Henry back in 2021 to launch her own pollinator blend of cosmos flowers seed packets in tribute to frontline workers that raised $225,000 for the Food Banks of Canada.
