The Rotary Club of Tsawwassen is inviting senior students at South Delta Secondary to live in a foreign country for one year as a Rotary exchange student.

The Rotary Youth Exchange Program is co-sponsored under agreement among pairs of districts of Rotary International around the world. Each year, thousands of students participate in this program.

Students who are accepted will have the opportunity to study for one year in a senior secondary school in a foreign country. Destinations include many countries in Europe, South America, Mexico and Asia.

Last year, Madelene Gamage of Tsawwassen studied in France. This year, Dakota Dolfo-Smith is studying in Brazil. Last year, the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen hosted Jan Kubes, from the Czech Republic, and this year it's hosting Aymeric Dethier, from Belgium.

An information meeting will be held at SDSS on Wednesday, Oct. 26 during the lunch break from 11:20 a.m. to noon in Room 105. Eligibility is based on the student's age, ability to communicate, academic achievement, and capability to make friends and be an ambassador for Tsawwassen. Students should currently be in grades 10, 11 or 12.

Application forms will be available at the meeting and at the counsellor's office at SDSS. You can also get information and preliminary application forms at www.d5040youthexchange.ca or by emailing [email protected].

Completed applications must be returned by Dec. 1.

This program is an exciting opportunity for Tsawwassen students to learn a new culture and develop friendships around the world that will last forever.
