Delta’s Neighbourhood Road Improvement Plan addresses aging infrastructure and provides missing sidewalks.

The City of Delta has started gathering public feedback on a planned neighbourhood road improvement project that will impact a wide area of North Delta.

The Barrymore, Garfield, Garrett and Monroe Drive Roadway and Utility Improvements Project will include roadway widening, new sidewalks with new rollover curb and gutter, a new watermain along Monroe Drive, LED street lighting improvements, new boulevard trees, traffic calming measures, drainage improvements including ditch infill as necessary, as well as roadway re-paving within the project limits.

The detailed design is to be completed by February 2024, with construction scheduled for June and completion by next October.

The North Delta project is part of Delta’s Neighbourhood Road Improvement Plan, which addresses aging infrastructure and provides missing sidewalks.

Meanwhile, the city recently concluded another request for bids for the construction of the 54A Street Roadway Improvements Project in South Delta.

The scope of that work will include, among other things, a new curb and gutter along 54A Street, a new concrete sidewalk and driveway letdowns and new street lighting along the street.

The city notes the work is to begin as soon as possible. Traffic disruptions on along 54A Street are expected to be kept to a minimum and two-way traffic flow and access to properties shall be maintained.
