Smashed door might be due to upset customer

The following are some of the calls of interest the Delta police responded to in the South Delta area between Monday, Sept. 16 and Sunday, Sept. 22:

Tsawwassen

Sept. 16, 8:36 a.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: Report received of a vehicle left in the shopping centre parking lot unattended with its windows down and the key in the ignition. Police located the owner of the vehicle who explained he had electrical issues over the weekend and had left the vehicle in the parking lot but could not explain why the vehicle was open with the keys in the car. Keys returned to the owner who arranged for a tow truck to pick up the car.

Sept. 19, 5:08 p.m., ferry causeway: A suspicious circumstance incident was reported aboard a ferry heading to Tsawwassen. Police located a suspect who was in possession of a B.C. driver's licence and other identification belonging to a complainant who had reported a break and enter to his residence in June. Items seized and investigation is ongoing.

Sept. 19, 1:45 p.m., 1300-block of Duncan Drive: Complainant reported her decal was missing from her licence plate and was unable to confirm if the decal was ever placed on the plate. Report taken for information purposes.

Sept. 21, 3:24 p.m., 200-block of Woodland Drive: A late report was received of a change purse missing from the complainant's large purse left on her bed. The change purse contained a key to her residence and $800. The complainant suspects workmen who were in her residence may be responsible for the theft. Locks on the residence to be changed and police will follow up with the workmen.

Sept. 21, 5:48 p.m., 1400-block of 56th Street: Complainant reported his bicycle stolen from the bike rack at his apartment block. The strata council had recently posted a notice that bicycles left in the racks for a lengthy period of time would be removed and donated to charity. However, the complainant has not been able to make contact with the strata council and wished to file a report for insurance purposes. The bicycle is described as a men's orange Apollo 10-speed.

Sept. 22, 5:13 a.m., 1500-block of 56th Street: Complainant reported her unlocked vehicle was entered sometime overnight and her boyfriend's $800 laptop stolen. No witnesses or suspects.

Ladner Sept. 16, 10:44 a.m., 4400-block of Dawn Drive: Report received that the super mailboxes were left open. Police found all three mailboxes open with no items in the boxes. No signs of forced entry as it appears a key had been used to open the boxes. Canada Post contacted to secure the mailbox.

Sept. 16, 3:59 p.m., 4800-block of Linden Drive: Complainant reported the gate to her residence had been broken. Police investigated and found it was the back sliding door to the residence that had been smashed. The complainant works in a restaurant and indicated a difficult customer may have followed her home and damaged the window. The complainant was able to provide the licence plate number of the possible suspect. Police will follow up with the possible suspect.

Sept. 18, 8:24 am, 5000-block of 96th Street: Report received from complainant that his son's two dirt bikes parked in his shed had been stolen sometime overnight. Thieves cut the locks off the shed as well as the lock on a storage trailer. Nothing stolen from trailer but all locks missing. Area checks by police proved negative.

Sept. 18, 5:06 p.m., 4200-block of Arthur Drive: An off-duty police officer reported a suspicious male was going door to door attempting to sell security systems. Police located the male who provided identification and this was confirmed by the company manager. Police advised the sales person to take great care if going door to door to show his identification to residents and to obtain residents' express permission prior to entering their homes. The information was also given to the manager to convey to all sales personnel.

Sept. 20, 1:28 a.m., 4900-block of 53rd Street: Police responded to a report of a noisy party. On arrival, police noticed several males on a side deck of the residence. Officers spoke to the host and advised him of the noise bylaw and possible fines. The party was shut down without any problems at the request of police officers.
