July 15, 5400 Block of 8B Avenue: Complainant received a call advising their son had been in a car accident and required $9,000 for bail in order to be released from police custody. The complainant complied and sent the funds by e-transfer to the caller. When the complainant went to the Surrey Court to retrieve their son they were informed their son was not present and the complainant had fallen victim to a scam. The complainant then contacted their son who confirmed they had not been in an accident. The police and bank to continue investigation of the incident.

July 16, 4900 Block of Canoe Pass Way: The Loss Prevention Officer of a business provided police with the license number of vehicle of a couple with children who had left the store with $100 worth of bicycle accessories without payment.  Police attended the residence of the suspects who admitted to the theft and indicated they were struggling financially.  They were informed this was not an excuse to commit a criminal offence to which they agreed and apologized.  The business did not wish to pursue criminal charges but requested the couple been given a one year ban from the store to which the couple agreed. Stolen property returned.

July 19, 500 Block of 54th Street: Complainant reported they are constructing a detached garage on their residence and that eleven sheets of plywood had been stolen.  Surveillance video revealed a Caucasian male loading the plywood into a black pickup truck. Still images of the suspect were distributed to regional police officers for possible identification of the suspect.

July 20, Tsawwassen Beach Causeway Beach:  Police received a complaint that incessantly loud music was coming from the beach and disturbing homes in the area. Police attended and found a family enjoying a day at the beach playing loud karaoke music. The family were advised of the noise bylaw and were asked to turn the volume down but still encouraged them to sing some Britney Spears. The family was cooperative and agreed to keep the volume down. 

July 21, 1 Ferry Causeway:  Complainant reported the theft of their bag from their vehicle parked on the ferry deck. The theft was not noticed until the complainant had disembarked from the ferry.  The complainant confirmed the vehicle was left locked but indicated there was a possibility that they had left the bag at home. The bag is described as a black and grey “Numero Uno” book bag containing $150 cash, rental car keys, and various sundry items with a total value of $700. Investigation to continue with surveillance video obtained from BC Ferries.

Ladner

July 15, 4800 Block of Delta Street:  A citizen reported they had lost their beige McCann backpack. The bag contained miscellaneous clothes, a broken iPhone SE, and a near empty bottle of vodka with a total value of approximately $100. Anyone locating the bag can leave it at Police Headquarters in Ladner. 

July 18, HQ 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent:  A late report received from a complainant who received a phone call re the purchase of bitcoins and had transferred $2,200 from their bank in order to open a bitcoin account before they realized the situation to be fraudulent. No further fraudulent activity has occurred in their bank account. The complainant advised to notify the bank of the fraudulent incident.

July 18, 5000 Block of 56th Street:  A report received that two individuals were “shooting up” by the washroom in the area. Police attended and observed two individuals and advised them that the use of drugs in the park is not allowed. Both the individuals indicated they understood and were compliant with police.  The pair left the area on foot.

July 20, HQ 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported being defrauded of $4,000 US on their Mastercard when attempting to purchase a horse blanket online through a Facebook group. The funds were transferred through a Veem account which is used to make foreign bank transfers. The blanket was not received and all accounts including the Facebook group have been deleted. Veem and Mastercard both informed of the fraud. 

July 20, 4700 Block of 57th Street: The complainant received a delivery slip indicating they could pick up their parcel at a Ladner business. When the complainant went to pick up the parcel which contained a $3,300 collectable, they were informed the parcel had already been picked up. Unknown if parcel had been released in error.  The business to cover replacement of the lost package. 

July 21, 500 Block of Annance Court:  A business reported a male stole four propane tanks valued at $260 from in front of the business. The suspect was observed leaving the scene in a grey Mitsubishi Lancer rental car. Surveillance video provided to police of the incident. Rental company contacted by police and will provide the renters details.
