*April 10, Police Headquarters 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported that they lost $300 to an email scam, after receiving an email from whom they thought was a relative asking to purchase a gift card for a woman suffering from cancer. The complainant sent the information for the gift card to an email address provided by the suspect. Complainant later contacted the relative who confirmed their email had been hacked, and the request was fraudulent. Police advised complainant to register with Equifax and report the fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Agency.
*April 11, Police Headquarters 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported the theft of their purse while onboard a BC Ferry destined for Tsawwassen from Victoria. Complainant advised they had fallen asleep shortly after boarding the ferry. Purse contained complainant’s wallet with identification cards, banking cards, house key, work key, makeup, $5 US currency, and an Airpod case, all valued at approximately $550. Complainant has cancelled banking cards and changed locks at home and work. Incident was reported to BC Ferries Chief Steward and the lost and found. CCTV request for footage submitted to BC Ferries.
*April 13, Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal: Routine query of parked vehicles at the Long-Term Parking Lot resulted in the recovery of a stolen orange Ford Ranger bearing Alberta license plates. Vehicle was reported stolen on Feb. 27, 2023 from the Parkland RCMP detachment (Edmonton area). Community crime watch notices on windshield of vehicle indicate the vehicle had been there since at least April 3, 2023. Vehicle was towed and held in secure bay for examination, no apparent damage to vehicle.
*April 14, Police Headquarters 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported receiving threatening emails requesting $1,500 after sending revealing photos to an unknown suspect they met online. Unknown suspect was threatening to send photos to complainants contact list if money was not received. Upon searching, it was found the suspects’ username had been deleted. Police advised to cease all communications and go through website “Take It Down” if photographs get posted online.
*April 15, Police Headquarters 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported they had been the victim of identity theft. Complainant reported receiving an email from Scotiabank advising their password had been changed. After reviewing their bank statement, the complainant observed numerous other fraudulent transactions. Scotiabank is investigating and monitoring accounts for further suspicious activity. Complainant has created an account with Equifax to monitor credit score. Police advised complainant to change all passwords to all websites containing personal information, and to report the fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Agency.
*April 16, 5000 Canoe Pass Way: Complainant reported the theft of clothing from a local business by an unknown male suspect, described as South Asian, approximately 6’3” tall, wearing a yellow football jersey with No. 99, black pants, black and white baseball hat, and carrying a bag with black and white stripes. Security reported the unknown suspect was last seen walking towards a grey Nissan Altima. The license plates provided did not match. Patrols of area proved negative; CCTV footage obtained for review.

*April 11, 4500 Block of River Road West: Complainant reported theft of their bike from the backyard of the residence overnight. Bike is described as a “homemade motorcycle” using a purple Raleigh mountain bike frame, a large 40 pound gas motor and muffler, with knobby tires. The motor is not currently functioning, but will run with pedal power. Approximate value of bike is $600. Police are awaiting possible CCTV footage from neighbor.
*April 11, 5400 Block of Grove Avenue: Complainant reported sometime overnight, their work van had been broken into and approximately $3,000 worth of tools stolen while parked at residence. Police attended and spoke with complainant who advised the vehicle had been locked and there was damage to the lock on the rear door of the van. Police are awaiting possible CCTV footage from neighbors for review.
*April 15, 5400 Block Paton Drive: Report of found orange toolbox located near caller’s home containing wallet with $210 inside. Police attended residence to retrieve toolbox and return to owner who advised toolbox was a lunch kit that must have fallen from back of their vehicle. File concluded.
