Tsawwassen
*Aug. 11, 500 Block of Seashell Drive: Complainant reported their residence was broken into sometime during the past four weeks while they were out of town. The point of entry appeared to be the rear patio door, which was pried open. Both master and guest bedroom drawers were rummaged through and items strewn across the floor. Stolen items not determined at this time. A neighbrourhood canvass was negative. Identification services attended.
*Aug. 11, 1700 Block of 56th Street: Complainant reported an unknown male, claiming to work for Amazon, had convinced them to download the app “Ask Desk” and then provided the suspect with bank card information, picture of driver’s license, and face photograph. The Royal Bank contacted the complainant advising their bank account had been frozen due to fraudulent activity with their accounts. All bank cards were cancelled and the complainant was advised to contact Equifax and TransUnion. No money was stolen from accounts. Police ran queries of the phone numbers used to contact the complainant with negative results.
*Aug. 13, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way: A business reported a male suspect had left the store with a polo shirt without payment. Security was able to track the suspect to the food court where police arrested the suspect for theft under $5,000. A second male, associated with the suspect, was also detained. He admitted to the theft of several items. The suspects, who are visiting from Mexico, demonstrated remorse and payment was given for all items. Both suspects were released without charges, but given a ban from the mall.
*Aug. 13, 900 Block of 53A Street: During a traffic stop, police found a vehicle with expired insurance. The driver admitted to spending the evening at a local pub and provided police with two breath samples which both read ‘fail.’ The driver was given an immediate 90-day roadside suspension, a 30-day driving suspension, and a ticket for no insurance. The vehicle was impounded and the driver and their passenger left the area by foot.
Ladner
*Aug. 8, 4600 Block of Evergreen Lane: Complainant reported that, while they went outside to water the complexes plants, they left their front door unlocked with their backpack in sight in the front window. When the complainant returned, they found their wallet had been stolen from the backpack. The wallet is described as Chanel black leather with a white emblem containing bank and personal cards. The complainant cancelled all appropriate cards.
*Aug. 9, 5500 Block of Admiral Way: Complainant reported the theft of a portable hand washing station from their work site sometime overnight. The work station is valued at approximately $1,200. The complainant has surveillance video footage and photos of the theft and the suspect on a work computer available for police.
*Aug. 10, 4500 Block of Arthur Drive: Police conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle travelling very slowly and changing lanes without a signal. The driver admitted to drinking alcohol and provided two breath samples with both reading ‘warn.’ The driver was given a 12-hour driving prohibition and their driver’s license seized.
*Aug. 11, 4600 Block of River Road West: Complainant reported a theft which had occurred at 5:30 a.m. and was captured on video surveillance. Two suspects climbed over a shed into the property and stole a 10-foot Aquamarine boat, fishing rods, and a case of wine with a total value of $2,000. The suspects were identified as a male and female and left the area westbound with the stolen boat. The complainant advised that the boat was recovered the following day. Images of the suspects distributed for possible identification.
