Expect the Delta Islanders to make a significant splash when the B.C. Junior "A" Lacrosse League Midget Draft takes place Sunday morning in Port Coquitlam.

Expect the Delta Islanders to make a significant splash when the B.C. Junior "A" Lacrosse League Midget Draft takes place Sunday morning in Port Coquitlam.

Last month, the Islanders acquired the number one overall pick from the Burnaby Lakers in a multi-player deal. The projected top pick is Connor Frost who already has signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of North Carolina on a full-ride field lacrosse scholarship. The Port Moody native has indicated he would like to play at the junior level close to home in the Tri-Cities area.

Islanders assistant general manager and head coach Greg Rennie has been in discussions with both the Coquitlam Adanacs and Port Coquitlam Saints in regards to trading the pick. If a deal is finalized, it won't be announced until the day of the draft.

Last week, Rennie also sent the seventh overall pick to the Nanaimo Timbermen, along with the playing rights to Del Donnelly, for three picks, including a first rounder in 2015. Rennie has made it clear he is interested in number 1998-born top prospects and would like to obtain multiple 2015 draft picks. Delta already has acquired two first round selections, along with their own.

Sunday's midget draft is for 1997-born players who played minor lacrosse for associations not affiliated with junior "A" clubs.
