Stolen credit card gets an immediate workout

The following are some of the calls of interest the Delta police responded to in the South Delta area between Monday, April 9 and Sunday, April 15:

Tsawwassen

. April 11, 1: 27 p.m., 700-block of Glenwood Drive: Complainant reported the garage door had been left open while his wife took the dog for a walk and on her return she found someone had entered and ransacked two vehicles parked in the garage. A wallet and tuner chip plug were missing from the vehicles.

A search of the area by police proved negative.

. April 12, 10: 32 p.m., 200-block of 66th Street: A report was received that a white vehicle was driving slowly up and down the street. The complainant was concerned the driver was possibly casing the vehicles and residences in the area.

Police conducted an extensive search in the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

. April 14, 9: 48 p.m., 400-block of Kerry Drive: Complaint received that several youth were smashing glass on the walkway to the elementary school.

Police attended and conducted foot patrols throughout the grounds of the school but youths had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

. April 15, 4: 48 a.m., Boundary Bay Regional Park: A report was received that two vehicles had gained access to the beach area of the park and were driving in a restricted area. Police conducted a foot patrol and located youths having a bonfire on the beach but no vehicles were found in the area. Police instructed the youths to put out the fire and leave the park. The youths were cooperative and polite and left as requested.

. April 9, 3: 10 p.m., 4800-block of 59A Street: Complainant reported that overnight someone rummaged through his vehicle parked in his driveway. There were no signs of forced entry and complainant was unsure if he had locked the vehicle.

. April 10, 5: 59 p.m., 6000-block of Deas Island Road: Driver's licence and credit card were stolen from the complainant's vehicle parked at the boat launch lot. There were no signs of forced entry and the complainant indicated she had left the vehicle locked while she was kayaking on the river. The credit card stolen had been used at various gas stations and restaurants before cancelation. Information regarding the cards entered in the police information computer system and investigation continued for fraud.

. April 13, 3: 45 p.m., south end of 64th Street: While walking on the dike complainant had left her vehicle parked and locked in the area. The complainant returned to her car when she heard the alarm go off to find someone had pried the passenger door open and had stolen her purse.

A black van with two older male occupants had been observed in the area over the course of the last two days. The wallet contained several items, including credit cards. Damage to the vehicle was $1,000, but there was nothing for identification.
