North Delta’s Sunbury Hall is getting a much-needed facelift.

At its March 7 council meeting, Delta councillors approved a contract for an upgrade of the building envelope at Sunbury Hall be awarded to New City Contracting Ltd. in the amount of $498,682.

According to a Delta staff report, in 2020, a building enclosure condition assessment was conducted on the Sunbury Hall to provide recommendations for the renewal or repair of the building envelope of the building.

The facility is owned by Delta and operated under a licence agreement by a third party. Under the licence agreement, Delta is responsible for building envelope and structural repairs/updates.

The building envelope upgrade at Sunbury Hall consists of the replacement of the exterior wall stucco and wood siding with a metal cladded rain-screen system, the replacement of existing single glazed windows with new double glazed windows and thermally broken frames, and the replacement of wooden doors with metal doors, soffit, fascia and downspouts. Asphalt shingles that are experiencing premature degradation will be replaced under a warranty claim.
