The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest.

*Nov. 27, 11900 Preddy Drive: Complainant reported the theft, sometime overnight, of a deer Christmas decoration from their front lawn. The deer is described as very large with white lights and cost $100.

*Nov. 29, 7300 Block of 120th Street: A business reported that two males entered a business and selected a 55”, LG LED Smart TV valued at $2,100 and left the store without payment. Still images from surveillance video to be distributed for possible identification.

*Nov. 30, 8200 Block of Trondheim Drive: Complainant reported that they had received information from Amazon that a package was delivered to the complainant’s residence, when they checked there was no package at the door. The package contained a 3D headset valued at $600. The complainant advised police they had contacted Amazon who reimbursed them for the loss. Police suggested the complainant have their packages delivered to an Amazon locker in the future.

*Dec. 1, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Street: Complainant reported that they had sent three intimate images of themselves to what they believe was a female’s Instagram account. The complainant then received a demand for $1,500 otherwise the photos would be sent to the complainant’s friends on Instagram. The complainant complied and was then asked for a further $1,000, which they did not send. Police advised the complainant to report the incident to Instagram, cease all communication and not send any further funds.  Police also advised the complainant to contact the web site stopncii.org who supports victims of non-consensual intimate images. 

*Dec. 2, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Street: Complainant reported that they had e-transferred $130 to an unknown person for a meal prep service as advertised on Facebook Marketplace, but nothing received in return. Police advised the complainant that this is a common scam and the dangers of sending money to unknown people. 

*Dec. 2, 7300 Block of Minister Drive: Complainant reported the theft of their catalytic converter, sometime over the past couple of days from their vehicle parked in the driveway of their residence.

*Dec. 4, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Street: Complainant reported that they had been defrauded of $18,000 via an online Facebook romance scheme. A relationship for companionship was started online by the complainant in August, and in September the suspect began requesting money. The complainant complied by “loaning” the suspect the funds before they realized the situation was fraudulent. Police advised the complainant to contact their bank, Equifax, TransUnion, and Anti-fraud Canada.
