Torched vehicle in North Delta linked to Newton shooting

RCMP is continuing their investigation into a shooting Friday night, and are appealing to anyone with further information to come forward.

According to RCMP, the two men injured in the shooting are now considered in stable condition.

“One of the men had an outstanding warrant and it now in police custody,” said Surrey RCMP in a news release Saturday afternoon. “While still early in the investigation, this shooting is believed to be linked to the drug trade and the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.”

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit is leading the investigation with assistance from a number of specialized teams including the Surrey Gang Enforcement Team and the Integrated Forensic Identification Team. In addition, frontline officers on scene Friday night were assisted by Police Dog Services and CFSEU-BC UGET.

 Investigators continue to canvas the area for potential witnesses or CCTV footage. Anyone with information about this incident, or who may have dash cam video in the area at the time of the shooting is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
