Each year under the Road Improvement Program, ICBC provides cost-share funding to municipalities.

Additional road safety projects will be coming to Delta.

Council last week agreed to enter into cost-sharing agreements with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) for 11 projects for cycling and pedestrian safety improvements, new traffic signals and a safety study that are being delivered by Delta in 2022.

The ICBC Road Improvement Program provides cost-share funding for capital projects that have a potential to reduce vehicle crashes and insurance claim costs. Over the last 10 years, Delta has received $1,552,800 in funding through the program.

A staff report notes the $144,500 in funding for the upcoming projects is in addition to the funds that were allocated in the 2022 municipal capital budget.

The funding received under the ICBC 2022 Road Improvement Program will be used to offset additional costs associated with the projects.
