TransLink says strong ridership recovery in the southeast sub-region is why increasing bus service in Delta and the other jurisdictions in that sub-region is a priority.

TransLink is increasing bus service on six Delta bus routes starting on Jan. 4.

The transit authority says it’s improving service in Delta because bus boardings have recovered faster in Delta’s sub-region than most other areas in Metro Vancouver.

A spokesperson noted that despite a system-wide drop in transit ridership in Metro Vancouver to roughly 40 per cent of pre-pandemic boarding levels, TransLink had maintained service levels throughout the pandemic to give customers more space while on board.

To allocate service to the routes that need it most, TransLink will make service changes four times a year to reflect changes in demand and sub-regional boarding patterns.

The following Delta routes will see service changes:

#104 (22nd Street Station / Annacis Island)

#301 (Newton Exchange / Brighouse Station)

#319 (Scott Road Station / Newton Exchange / Scottsdale)

#340 (Scottsdale / 22nd Street Station)

#351 (White Rock Centre / Bridgeport Station)

#640 (Ladner Exchange / Scott Road Station)
