UPDATE: Delta Deputy fire Chief Brad Wilson said firefighters responded to the blaze eastbound on Highway 17.
“I understand the fire was on the upper level of the road, so westbound traffic shouldn’t have been effected,” Wilson told the Optimist just before 1 p.m. “The fire is struck, they [firefighters] are just waiting for environmental remediation – possible diesel spill and a sand truck. They have just one lane closed eastbound.”
