UBC's season ended Saturday in Georgia with a 7- 2 loss to No. 5 seed California State San Marcos in the semi-final of the A.I.I. Conference Championship Tournament.

With a berth in the next round of the NAIA Championships on the line, UBC and CSU San Marcos faced off for the second time in three days. UBC defeated

the Cougars 11-5 back on Thursday.

"Unfortunately, we ran out of gas and lost today," said UBC head coach and Tsawwassen resident Gord Collings "I was very pleased with the team throughout the tournament and disappointed for them -especially the seniors. We received many compliments for our competitiveness and character, which says a lot about the type of group we have."

The Thurderbirds had opened the championships with a 7-6 win over No. 3 seed University of Houston-Victoria, followed by the 11-5 triumph against California State San Marcos.

Westerhof was then outstanding in her final start for UBC - a 3-2 loss on Friday to No. 1 seed LSU Alexandra. She struck out seven and allowed just six hits in going the distance.

The Thunderbirds finished the season with a 16-15 record
