The North Delta Rays 11U AAA summer all-star baseball team came through with a hard-fought bronze medal finish at a tournament in Richmond over the B.C. Day Weekend.
The Rays got off to a terrific start on the Friday night, sweeping a doubleheader with wins over the host team and Langley to earn a bye on Saturday.
Playing in soaring temperatures on Sunday, North Delta fell to eventual champion Nanaimo in the semi-finals. The team was back on the diamond a short time later, pulling out a 9-8 victory over the North Shore to reach the podium.
The Rays roster includes: Christopher Lin, Connal Grant, Devin Jassal, Jack Utsunomiya, Jared Filby, Kyle Crowther, Kyle Reynolds, Liam Baumeister, Nolan Lee, Paul Stringer, Scott Ormston and Tyler Nielsen.
The boys are coached by Brent Crowther, with assistants Scott Utsunomiya and Steve Ormston.
