The North Delta Pirates of the North Delta Baseball Association are thrilled to announce that Brendan Grant has committed to play varsity baseball with the Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Wolfpack.

In his last year competing at midget level baseball for the Pirates, he was a key player, leading the team in essential pitching statistics, including innings pitched, batters faced, and an outstanding earned run average (ERA) of 2.366. He also led the team in other pivotal metrics, such as batters left on base, runners picked off, and an impressive opponent batting average against of 0.198.

During their inaugural season, the Pirates had an extraordinary run, clinching the title at the 2024 Sussex All-Star tournament in Kamloops and proudly finishing in third place at the British Columbia Minor Baseball Association (BCMBA) Provincial tournament.

Grant’s contributions were instrumental in these accomplishments, showcasing his talent and passion for the game.

Additionally, he was honoured as the 2024 recipient of the Bill Stebbings Memorial Scholarship at Seaquam Secondary. This prestigious scholarship recognizes a student-athlete who embodies the spirit of sportsmanship, hard work, and community involvement. Bill Stebbings, a beloved figure in the local sports community, played baseball at Chico State University in northern California, served as a decorated baseball coach, and was the architect behind the Seaquam Seahawks boys basketball program.

Grant will pursue his studies in the Faculty of Arts while continuing to develop his skills as a baseball player. The Wolfpack eagerly anticipates his arrival and the potential he brings to the team.

“Brendan’s commitment to Thompson Rivers University is a testament to his hard work and passion for baseball,” said Paul Goumans, head coach of the Pirates. “We are incredibly proud of all he has accomplished and excited to see him take this next step in his career. He has a bright future ahead of him.”
