Former Delta Islanders' standout Robbie Campbell will have a leading role with the Stony Brook Seawolves for the upcoming NCAA men's field lacrosse season.

The Seaquam graduate, who spent the better part of three seasons with the Islanders before helping the Coquitlam Adanacs win the Minto Cup in 2010, is one of two pre-season All-Americans on the Seawolves' roster.

The senior plays a vital role in Stony Brook's midfield. Last season, Campbell compiled 27 points in in limited action.

The Seawolves are the defending America East regular season champions, and have appeared in the conference title game three consecutive seasons. Their 14-game regular season schedule includes four teams that made the 2011 NCAA Tournament, highlighted by Virginia, the defending national champions.

"We are very excited about our 2012 schedule," said head coach Nagle said.

"Our non-conference schedule should prepare us well for the evenly matched America East conference schedule. With a lot of recent change in our program, it should be easy to take it one game at a time. That's what we are looking forward to most."

Stony Brook opens the season at Fairfield on February 18 before taking on the Cavaliers the following week.

Campbell was also a star football player at Seaquam secondary and spent two years with the UBC Thunderbirds before turning his focus solely on lacrosse and signing with the Long Island, NY school.
