The Ladner school's junior boys volleyball team earned a podium finish at last weekend's Valley tournament thanks to a win over Langley Christian in its final game. The Pacers were led by the MVP performances of Clint Taylor and Mark Trotman. Connor Barr also enjoyed a strong match against Langley with 11 kills. Eric Goodman added five. Cyrus Kohlmetz provided excellent service.

After earlier winning the Delta District title, the Pacers concluded their outstanding season at this week's provincial invitational tournament in Abbotsford.

Meanwhile, the Pacers junior boys soccer team capped their best season in recent memory by placing third at the Fraser Valley Junior Boys Soccer Championships.

Delta secured third place with a 3-1 win over rival North Delta last week at Holly Park. Goals were scored by Vikram Puri, Luke Harms and Hayden Iremonger.

Earlier, the Pacers went unbeaten in district play to earn the third seed at the 16-team valley tournament. They advanced to the final four with wins over LA Matheson and Fraser Heights before falling to eventual champions Charles Best of Coquitlam.

At the buzzer.... The Delta Pacers senior boys basketball team will tip off its season on Monday night with an exhibition game in Tsawwassen against the South Delta Sun Devils.

The same two teams will also meet on January 31st for the Second Annual Stebbings/Murray Cup rivlary game.

The contest is played in the honour of Bob Stebbings and Neil Murray, two longtime basketball coaches at both local high schools.
