Ladner’s Sacred Heart Elementary won 2-1 over Our Lady of Mercy in a breathtaking final of the Catholic Independent Schools Vancouver Archdiocese “Super Eight” Grade 6 boys soccer tournament. Outsized, but not out fought, Sacred Heart had to endure attack after attack as its Burnaby opponent searched for a winner. With the game tied at 1-1, Sacred Heart refused to roll over and while the opposition clearly had several outstanding individuals in its lineup, team work won the day. With three minutes remaining Sacred Heart broke out of defence to score a dramatic winner. The boys were coached by Greg Southwell.submitted
