Seaquam graduate Jalen Philpot has earned Canada West Player of the Week honours after a spectacular season-opening performance for the defending Vanier Cup champion University of Calgary Dinos.
The third-year receiver made 13 catches for a whopping 246 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Calgary to a 34-20 win over the Saskatchewan Huskies last Saturday at McMahon Stadium.
Philpot’s touchdown receptions came from 13 and 24 yards out. His total receiving yards ranks ninth all-time in conference history for a single game.
His twin brother Tyson Philpot also had an impressive outing with eight catches for 155-yards and a major score.
The sons of former B.C. Lions star running back Cory Philpot are expected to be among the top picks in the 2022 CFL Draft.
The Dinos return to action on Saturday with a trip to Regina to take on the Rams.
