A pair of South Delta Storm A1 rep hockey teams have booked their tickets to the upcoming provincial championships following Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association’s Final Four playoffs.
The U18 Storm are off to the B.C. Tier 2 Championships in Campbell River that run from March 20 to 23. South Delta secured its spot with a runner-up finish at the PCAHA Final Four in Port Coquitlam.
The locals didn’t waste anytime in locking up their trip to Vancouver Island, producing wins over Port Moody (6-0) and Port Coquitlam (3-2). That set the stage for Sunday’s battle of unbeaten teams for the playoff banner with the Storm dropping a 5-1 decision to Hollyburn.
Both teams head to Campbell River with South Delta in a round-robin group that includes Greater Trail, Peninsula and Fort St. John. The top two teams advance to the semi-finals. The Storm is coached by longtime Ladner resident and former NHLer Ken Priestlay.
The roster features: #1 Arjun Chahal, #2 Declan Speiran, #3 Ben Wichers, #4 Jake Jones, #5 Max Kidds-Brodie, # 6 Owen Turpie, #7 Jack Callow, #8 Mathias McDonnell, #10 Jacob Bailie-Wolf, #11 Hayden Clisby, #12 Tyler Allen, #13 Maddex Hewitt, #14 Dylan Van Poelgeest, #16 Ryan Carleton, #17 Owen Venier, #19 Kai Sloan, #21 Zachary Milne, #31 Diarmuid Bostock.

At Sungod Arena in North Delta last weekend, South Delta opened its Final Four playoffs with a 5-3 win over Hollyburn before dropping a 4-3 decision to eventual champion Port Coquitlam. That set the stage for Monday’s do-or-die game against Vancouver Minor for the final provincial spot and the Storm came through with a clutch 3-2 victory.
The team’s schedule in Vernon will include round-robin games against Victoria, host Greater Vernon and Cranbrook. The top two will advance to the medal round. Former Vancouver Giant Jackson Houck heads the Storm’s coaching staff.
The roster includes: Sean Jones, Jacob Jope, Ryan Rackow, Mason Buors, Connely Parker, Mitch McCluskey, Joseph Prokop, Barunka Sibertova, Sawyer Shears, Thomas Denney, Kaden Meyer, Koen Hubbard, Thomas Cowan, Dominic Dumas, Damian Dumas, Blair Pashak, Max Kobus, James Scouras.
The U13 A1 Storm’s provincial bid ended at its PCAHA Final Four Tier 2 playoffs at Britannia Arena in Vancouver.
