The Royals concluded their second-ever campaign with a fifth place finish at the NWAACC Championships in Portland. They earned a trip down south by finishing second in their conference and were seeded 10th in the 16-team tournament.

Douglas opened with a 1-0 win over seventh seed Treasure Valley then came through with a a 5-3 upset of number two seed Bellevue. The impressive run ended with a 3-1 loss to eventual finalist Lower Columbia, followed by a 6-4 setback to Clackamus.

Tsawwassen's Shelby Spargo and Ladner's Sami Wessel each had a pair of hits in the win against Bellevue.

The Royals roster also included Joanie Hayes and Courtney Buckland of North Delta, while Gord Collings is the head coach.

The Tsawwassen resident and former South Delta secondary principal spent a number of years coaching in the Delta Heat organization.

"I am so proud of the ladies and the progress they have made over the last two years," said Collings. "We worked hard and competed in every game and put the Douglas program on the map."
