U13 Pumas harvest gold medal at Richmond Thanksgiving tourney

Ladner Pumas U13 Silver Selects continued their winning ways at Richmond Soccer's annual Thanksgiving Weekend Tournament.

Ladner Pumas U13 Silver Selects continued their winning ways at Richmond Soccer's annual Thanksgiving Weekend Tournament.

The girls played some excellent soccer, showed composure and skill on the field, and had a great time en route to capturing gold.

"We had nine new girls join the team this year so we thought it may take them awhile to 'gel', but that couldn't be further from the truth. Right out of the gate, the girls have looked like they've been playing together for years!" said Pumas head coach Richard Lowe. "They are fun, energetic and, of course, have a healthy competitive spirit!"

Ladner started off the tournament tying a team from the Yukon and then went on to play Semiahmoo and Killarney, winning both games. The final against Guildford was a convincing 4-0 triumph. Every girl contributed and made a difference.

The roster includes: Mary Berger, Aubrey Bramwell, Chloe Cartlidge, Shae Dubois, Nicola Fletcher, Sophie Gayler, Madison Herauf, Cassidy Lowe, Breena Makelki, Lauren McKay, Abby Parson, Brittany Reid, Jayde Robertsen, Kora Savage, Ana Silva and Eliana Soursos.

Berger paced the attack throughout the weekend with a pair of hat tricks.

The team is hosting a poker fundraiser at the Boot and Sombrero in Ladner on Oct. 15. If you'd like to participate and support the team, contact Angela McKay at 604-803-6705.
