The South Delta Midget Bears hockey team closed its season in style by winning the playoff banner.

The Bears went 4-0-1 and were one of only five in the 41 team Fraser Valley Midget Division that went undefeated in the post-season..

Playing in the second most difficult tier, the Bears played their first two games on the road.

They came strong out of the gate with a 5-2 victory over a very good and eventual runner-up Surrey team. They then played another very solid Surrey team and put forth an incredible third period effort to take a late 4-3 lead after being down by a pair. A very late goal by Surrey tied the game, in what turned out to be a thriller.

The Bears returned home to face a hungry Langley team and perhaps the best goaltender they had encountered all season. The boys threw everything at the net and once again rallied, this time for a 5-3 victory.

South Delta then dumped Cloverdale 7-3 on the road and closed out the playoffs with a solid 4-1 home ice win over another Langley team.

The Bears played their best hockey of the season when it mattered the most thanks to a group of determined players right from the opening face off of the first playoff game.

The well-balanced squad had solid goaltending throughout from Rajan Singh and Jeremy Cook. The Bears roster also includes Alex Costin, Eric Goodman, Ole Hatelid, Josh Jantzi, Michael Krznaric, Quin Lockhart, Patrick McManus, Scott Miller, Ryan Perlstrom, Keith Reid, Aaron Rota, Robbie Scrannage, Connor Smith, Austin Vantol, Emmit Cherewyk, Bradyn Dulko and Justin Russell. The coaches are Frank Krznaric, Rob McManus and Gord Lockhart.
