Wasn't Doug Husband mayor during the Spetifore hearings of the late 1980s? I thought so.
He seems to have forgotten what retired Prairie farmers said in reaction to those who had the gall to claim that the Spetifore-Southlands property is poor farmland.
One sod-buster called them liars. Another compared the lush Spetifore farm to the dried-up scratch he had back in Alberta, land that he had to let lie fallow every other year.
And there are the soil experts who've testified over the years the Spetifore-Southlands property is good to excellent farmland.
Finally, there's Century Group itself, telling us it will make an excellent organic farm if we let it build on excellent bird habitat.
