Hello, Delta! My name is Warren Dean Flandez, and I'm thrilled to be joining the Delta Optimist team as a contributing columnist.
As a Delta resident, husband, father of two, and local business owner, I'm deeply invested in our community.
My journey has been multifaceted, taking me around the world as a touring musician, to the halls of academia as a university educator for the past decade. But no matter where I've been, I've remained steadfast in my commitment to serving our community, actively participating in local initiatives including co-founding The Harmony Initiative Society (THIS) and sitting on boards like the Delta Police Board and the Tsawwassen Business Improvement Association (TBIA). These experiences have not only broadened my perspective but have also reinforced my belief in the power of community engagement and collaboration.
I believe everyone in Delta has a story worth sharing, and each narrative contributes to the rich tapestry of Delta's history and future. That is the inspiration behind this column — a platform dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories that often go unheard in our community.
