Steve Austin's absurd ideological smear on the NDP drives home Adrian Dix's point that this election campaign can be summed up nicely with one phrase: "The B.C. Liberals vs. The Facts."

The suggestion that Nic Slater, a small businessperson who sat on the board of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce, is somehow interested in Stalinist coercion and "the confiscation of private property" is just the simple tired re-hashing of American-style red-scare fear tactics that, quite simply put, have absolutely no bearing on reality.

Backed into a corner, the Liberals and their supporters are demonstrating a fairly shocking level of willingness to say absolutely anything to tip things in their favour. I think it is shameful.

Slater and the NDP have been running a very straightforward campaign based on the change they want to bring, clearly laying out their plans and promising no surprises, unlike what we got with the HST after the last election.
