Glad candidate wasn't elected to two offices

Editor: I am somewhat relieved the voters of Delta chose not to confer two elected municipal positions on one candidate and by a substantial majority rebuked his bid for the senior office.

As both the candidate and the chief election officer may not have a firm grasp on the concept of conflict of interest, the candidate would have required heightened oversight when matters that concerned both council and school board were discussed.

Perhaps the post of municipal babysitter can be created should this potential rear its ugly head again.

Possibly the subject of ethics could be taught in our local school system.

However, if it required unanimous support from our new school board, I doubt it would pass.
