Politicians can not create communities - people do!

Ladner is unique. The citizens value its heritage.

It is now extremely upsetting to learn two heritage buildings on the south side of Chisholm are slated for demolition. Has anybody from city hall ever viewed them? Far, far better built than any replacement could be with heavy iron girders fore and aft, built apparently, to hoist aircraft, during the Second World War.

And why are they being removed – for a possible five-storey hotel?

Ladner does not have a ‘nightlife,’ nor high-end shops. Hotels are so passé!

Most travellers prefer Air B&Bs.

I agree there are some buildings that need an up-grade but please leave 4920 and 4930 on Chisholm St. alone.

We could use an art gallery. It appears that Ladner will now have a jeweller, again, which is badly needed.

When I took a trip to Ladner recently to have a good look around due to my concern for any potential flooding, I was relieved to have soon no flooding present. The dike on the northside of Chisholm Street was intact although the small buildings always have ankle deep water due to the tide.

We live in Tsawwassen, but we usually shop in Ladner. Our shopping mall here is dismal and poorly laid out. And now yet, again, could be in for a rehaul. Businesses have moved on to either Tsawwassen Mills or Ladner.

I ask the city to leave the antiquity of Ladner alone.
