I just found my 2018 property tax as I was preparing to pay my 2024 bill. I’m astonished. My bill has increased by 61 per cent in six years. Why?
What is happening with this city that demands such an increase? What reasons can our government point to?
Is it the provincial government, which has demanded that Delta increase housing, requiring increased spending on infrastructure, first responder numbers, more public services, etc., all of which demands more taxes from citizens?
Or is this simply poor management by Delta because citizens have no choice but to pay whatever the city demands?
Either way, we simply cannot continue this trajectory. It’s time for citizens to actually stand up for us and demand changes.
