Another over height vehicle incident, this time a truck scraping the top of the tunnel Wednesday night (Jan. 10).
Perhaps it’s time for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to install horizontal beams over our highways that will hit the tops of over height vehicles before they damage more infrastructure. The beams would need to be substantial enough to withstand being struck, and if they damage the too-all vehicle, well, it was going to be damaged a minute or so later anyway.
These would need to be placed before the last exit ahead of the overpass or tunnel, so the trucks could take the exit.
