Electricity, the light and warmth it provides, is my friend. The cost goes up, as do all costs. It is metered.
The little numbers go round and round and a nice man checks the numbers occasionally before I am billed.
Today little white trucks were swarming my neighbourhood. Friendly humanoids descended, colorfully dressed, face shields raised. House to house they went, plugging in new meters, assuring there would be no inconvenience.
Orwellian. One billion dollars for meters that will roust out grow-ops and provide a more accurate profile of me as a user of electricity.
