Many Canadian football players are considered to be top contenders in the 2024 NFL season.

American sports fans welcomed back the new NFL season with defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Baltimore Ravens by 27 to 20. This great start to the new season illustrates why bookmakers have the Chiefs as the favourite to retain the Super Bowl championship title, but there are lots of other NFL teams that are prepared to challenge them.

There are also some influential Canadian athletes that could play a part in where the silverware heads this season, and Canadians will be searching for the best places to bet online in Canada

Sports betting expert Matt Bastock advises consumers to search for betting sites with a good choice of sports and markets to bet on, with competitive betting odds, and with bonuses or promotions that can increase stakes without increasing risk.

With so many top Canadian football players as potential contenders, the country's sports fans will have a strong interest in many of the top NFL games this season.

Josh Palmer of the Los Angeles Chargers is one example, and after losing Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, he is in pole position as receiver.

With odds currently ranging between 28/1 to 50/1 for the Chargers to lift the Super Bowl, Palmer will have to up his game from last season, where he made 38 catches and got 2 touchdowns.

Miami Dolphins safety Jevon Holland is a player that has cemented his position in the team. Known as the Snowman, he enjoyed a productive 2023 season after finishing with 74 tackles, despite being out of action for five games due to injury.

The odds of the Miami Dolphins lifting their first Super Bowl since 1974 are as low as 18/1 with some bookmakers, meaning they have an outside chance of pulling off a surprise victory.

Chuba Howard's fourth season in the NFL as the Carolina Panthers running back could see him excel after an impressive 2023 season. He enjoyed career highs in receiving yards and rushing yards, 233 and 902 respectively, and also contributed with 5 touchdowns for a team that suffered for much of the year.

Howard raised a few eyebrows by becoming the starter ahead of Miles Sanders, who the Panthers had invested a lot in. While it is unlikely that the Carolina Panthers will be competing for titles this year, another good season for Howard could further bolster his growing reputation.

Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie III's inspirational story of coming back from a leukemia diagnosis that ruled him out of his rookie season is one that everyone wants to see a happy ending to.

Metchie will have to make the most of any opportunities he gets after the Houston Texans added Stefon Diggs to their roster. His average of a catch a game from his 16 outings last season should give him the confidence to step up when called upon.

Chase Brown of the Cincinnati Bengals could be set for a lot more game time this season after losing Joe Mixon due to injury. The Canadian running back's disappointing performance in their opening-day defeat to the Patriots should just be a blip, and Brown will be eager to make more of an impact in upcoming fixtures.

The Washington Commanders' revolution under new head coach Dan Quinn saw the addition of Jayden Daniels as quarterback, and the solid performances of cornerback Benjamin St-Juste last season should provide a good base to build on.

Atlanta Falcons Matthew Bergeron was the 38th pick in last season's draft. Since then, he has put in a solid rookie season. While offensive linemen are often overlooked, Bergeron could play a crucial role in the Falcon's NFL season.
